Penguins-Wings look for three-peat

To borrow an NHL slogan from seasons past, the biggest question heading into this year’s post-season can be simply summed up as: Is this the year? Is this the year the Detroit Red Wings and the defending champion Pittsburgh Penguins give other teams a chance to play for the Stanley Cup?

If so, will the San Jose Sharks finally step up in the Western Conference and live up to their lofty regular-season marks and shake their underachieving reputation? If not, will the upstart Chicago Blackhawks or surprising Phoenix Coyotes unseat the Red Wings, who won the Cup in 2008 against the Penguins and then fell in seven games a year ago in the rematch.

The answers will begin to unfold Wednesday night when the 16-team Stanley Cup tournament gets under way with four games. Three other series will start Thursday, and the Central Division-champion Blackhawks will host the Nashville Predators on Friday in Game 1 of that Western matchup.

Antidepressants Slice and Dice Brain

Antidepressants Slice and Dice Brain

Imagine a lobotomy…A saw cracking your skull, followed by a surgical knife slicing and dicing a large portion of your brain – the portion responsible for helping you cope with all the nastiness in the world. You know, things like the exorbitant income tax or the millions of children who go without clean water each and every day. Or, the millions of helpless infants who are stabbed with vaccines and subsequently suffer from autism.

Without the ability to cope, a lobotomy would surely open the doors to all kinds of craziness from the nastiness in the world….depression, suicide, and murder become a reality…And this is exactly what an SSRI (antidepressant) can potentially do at the molecular level – remove that portion of your brain that helps you cope…Maybe that is what happened to 81 year old Jordan Stone.

Thirteen days after taking the SSRI Prozac, on April 28, 2003, Jordan’s wife of 56 years, Kathy, found his lifeless body hanging

What A Beautiful Tan! Did You Just Ski Aspen?

Ski tans are in and skiing is big business. Last year, just the State of Colorado enjoyed a record 12.53 million skiing days and took in some 2.5 billion dollars, and they are expecting even more this skiing season. That is big and still growing.

This winter there will be millions of healthy, athletic, beautiful people sporting ski tans during the winter skiing season. The rich and famous spend small fortunes to ski at exotic locations such as Aspen. And, when they return home they show off those magnificent ski tans to the envious pale people.

Wouldn’t you like to belong to the upper class and show off your personal Aspen ski tan to your friends this winter?

Just where did this tanned skin envy come from?

Less than a century ago – pale skin was upheld as the mark of the upper class. Pale skin then separated the elite from dark tanned farm workers and outdoor laborers. After all, one needed to be rich in

Back Country Safety

Back Country Safety

As a back country snowboarder I have mixed feelings when I hear of tragedy on the mountain. I do feel sorry for the victims because sometimes very experienced people get caught in freak situations. I also feel angry about the number of inexperienced people that venture off where they shouldn’t be without the proper training. I would like to work toward a safer sport by advocating back country safety programs like Friends of Berthood Pass, and CAIC, Colorado Avalanche Information Center. By getting people educated we can reduce fatalities on the mountains we love. Here I will discuss the three basic factors that contribute to avalanches. They are terrain, snowpack, and weather.

The first step in avalanche safety is to be able to recognize avalanche terrain. Most avalanches occur on slopes between 30 and 45 degrees, but can occur on slopes from 25 to 60 degrees depending on other variables. Another factor is the slope’s aspect. In other

Satellite Internet Connects Rocky Mountain Sam to Civilization

Living in the middle of the Colorado Rockies is certainly not for the faint at heart. Sam would therefore be qualified as not faint at heart. Sam not only moved into the Rockies—where the pleasant, though short, summers are bookended by long and bitterly-cold winters—he moved into an area where population density was less than 8 people in every 15 squared miles.

Sam moved 25 miles to the north of Telluride, Colorado. Telluride is known for its killer snow skiing. It’s so isolated, most skiers in the middle of winter can only reach the ski resort through helicopter or airplane. The one road leading into the resort town are regularly closed without warning for roughly 3 months out of the year. The resort itself is not nearly as developed as most every other ski resort in the Rockies. Truly, this is a great draw for most of the skiers that frequent Telluride. Tired of the frenzied crowds of ski resorts such as Breckenridge, Keystone, or Vail, skiers and

Border Patrol Shot at With Automatic Weapons While Uncovering New Smuggling Tactic?s

BY MICHAEL WEBSTER: Syndicated Investigative Reporter Dec 17, 2008 at 4:00 PM PST.

Early this month U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Tucson, Ariz. sector and agents of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement were again fired upon with what appeared to be military type automatic weapons by Mexican drug smugglers dressed in military garb. Agents after observing a Flatbed tow truck on the Mexican side of the U.S. Mexican border backed up to the new international border fence. According to witnesses the tow truck backed up on a newly constructed earthen dirt berm which put the truck almost even with the height of the fence. The tow truck operator slowly unloaded two trucks laden with marijuana over the 18 ft. high fence to the U.S. side of the border. The entire episode was caught on the remote camera surveillance system and watched by U.S. predator and National Guard camera operators who were able to coordinate Border Patrol field agents to the

Nhl Power Rankings

Power Rankings for this week.  A special thanks to, BlueJacketsHockey

1. San Jose Sharks (26-4-3) 55 points
Yes, I know they lost twice this week and once to the Blue Jackets, but as of now I still think, by a slight edge they are the best in the NHL right now.
2. Detroit Red Wings (22-6-4) 48 points
Yea, they were one of the teams that beat the sharks last week and I know I’ll have some angry Bruins fans, but they beat the best team in the NHL, they gotta be here.
3. Boston Bruins (24-5-4) 52 points
Don’t get me wrong Bruins, I think you are a great team and that you will someday be 1 or 2, but the Wings beat the Sharks last week and I don’t think it’s fair to make the Sharks move from 1 to 3 when right now, they are still the best team in the leauge, but I think that the Bruins may be number 1 in a few weeks to come.
4. Chicago Blackhawks (18-6-7) 43 points
Can you say on fire? I’m not sure the Blackhawks can’t

Chevrolet trucks let drivers embrace winter

Gear up this winter by driving a truck that is built for tough conditions. Chevrolet trucks are designed to handle less than ideal roads, and whatever else life throws at you. With the 2010 line up of Chevrolet trucks, you’ll have plenty of choice when it comes to handling this winter and the next…

The Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado and Colorado all pack some punch and power. See which Chevrolet truck is meant for you.

Chevrolet Avalanche: The room of an SUV and the stability of a truck – all in one. This full-size pickup with sufficient cargo box room and Vortec 5.3L V8 Vortec engines allow you to be stress-free when loading up heavy loads. The Chevy Avalanche also has Active Fuel Management which uses less fuel and can run on E85 ethanol, giving you more options when filling the tank.

Chevrolet Silverado: Strength three-fold. This Chevrolet truck is equipped with a three-piece modular frame that combined
